Here are four reasons you need to set the correct water pressure if you use reverse osmosis at your business or medical facility:
- Better purification: Reverse osmosis systems include a high-pressure pump, motor, housing and membranes. They work by forcing water through the membrane for purification and flushing the solids away. Water pressure is essential for completing this function; without the correct pressure, water either does not make it through the membrane, or the membranes do not catch the solids. Either way, you do not enjoy the same water purity you would reach with good water pressure.
- Improved production: The correct RO system water pressure moves more water and filters out more solids. If you do not set it correctly, you will not filter water as quickly and have pure water available for your applications. You will see the difference in your production, research results and bottom line.
- Wear and tear: Low water pressure results in premature membrane fouling. When it works correctly, the membrane catches the solids, and the high-pressure water sends them to drain into the waste stream. Ideally, your water pressure should be set at 60 PSI. If lower than 40 PSI, you render your RO system ineffective and face water purity and system maintenance issues. If you face constant low pressure, it is likely time to replace or upgrade your RO system.
